Fred Anderson Heiltsuk Artist
Fred was born in 1966 at Rivers Inlet, British Columbia, a village situated just east of the northern tip of Vancouver Island. Fred belongs to the Heiltsuk/Wuikinuxv Nation Tribe. Traditional art has always been a part of his life and is now a major tool in his healing journey. Fred believes that success and happiness is something you attract by the person you become along the way. He considers his art a direct reflection and manifestation of his spirit. All of his designs have a story incorporating culture with spiritual development and encourages those to reach deeper and gain more from life. "After all, encouragement is a spiritual fuel."
Fred was taught by Ross Hunt and influenced by his Aunt Sharon Johnson and David Gladstone, however, it was his friends Bill Smith and Matt James who taught him to make his art speak.
"We are all spirits having a human experience. We are all here to walk each other home" Fred's signature feather is a reminder there is more in "YOU" than you are currently expressing.
